Responsibilities

MSTS is currently seeking an experienced Senior Quality Assurance Specialist in support of ongoing projects and activities at the Nevada National Security Site and the North Las Vegas facility.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and administration of a significant portion of the Quality Assurance Program.
  • Assist in supporting implementation and compliance with quality codes and standards.
  • Work with and advise line organization supervisors and departmental representatives on quality matters to ensure that procedures and work practices comply with the Quality Assurance Program, other management systems, and government requirements.
  • Recommend actions related to non-compliance and follow through to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Serve as the corporate Suspect Counterfeit Item (SCI) Coordinator, serve on the DOE SCI working group, review data sources to prevent the introduction of SCIs, and perform SCI investigations.
  • Serve as the corporate and DOE Lessons Learned Coordinator, work with facility Lessons Learned personnel to develop and publish Lessons Learned, and manage the Lessons Learned procedure.
  • Manage and maintain the OPEX database.
  • Manage and modify the organizational website.
  • Manage the contractor assurance and quality assurance metrics and websites.
  • Maintain awareness of quality standards and procedures and apply them to work responsibilities as required.
  • Conduct QA related assessments and surveillances.
  • Oversee implementation of QA policies and procedures.
  • Assist in preparation of long-range plans and implementation of quality program in response to new missions.
  • Promote quality assurance understanding across other Company organizational units.
  • Assist in developing and presenting quality assurance, contractor assurance, and lessons learned training.
  • Support issues management review, grading, and closure.
  • Review material and equipment requisitions for adherence to quality standards and codes.
  • Conduct research, data compilation, and data analysis.
  • Execute work in a disciplined manner to demonstrate compliance with laws, codes, orders, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop solutions for a range of complex problems and issues.
  • Support Integrated Project Teams as a team member for capital projects.
  • Generate non-conformance reports and issues in support of facility and project operations.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications

Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business related field or equivalent training and at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with Quality Assurance 10 CFR 830, DOE/NNSA Weapons Quality Policy NAP-401.1, NQA-1, ISO-9001, and DOE Order 414-1, is desirable.
  • Desired Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) certification from the American Society for Quality (ASQ), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and/or a NQA-1 Lead Assessor Certification from a recognized institution.
  • Able to utilize independent judgment, creativity, initiative, and ability to apply knowledge and experience to resolve problems and compose technical correspondence and reports and accomplish goals where established procedures may not be specific.
  • Must be highly organized and able to prioritize and schedule multiple activities and work assignments.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with all types of people in a tactful, professional, and effective manner while screening and maintaining confidentiality.
  • High degree of accuracy required in writing technical documents and ensuring all Company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Knowledge of material control and receiving inspection operations is desirable.
  • Ability to obtain various quality and cause analysis qualifications is required.
  • Ability to work under limited direction.
  • Must possess intermediate to advanced computer skills with various software applications.
  • The primary work location will be at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

 

MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

 

Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Annual salary range for this position is: $94,494.40 - $141,752.00.

 

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
