Responsibilities

THIS IS A CASUAL POSITION WORKING A MAXIMUM OF 900 HOURS PER CALENDAR YEAR.

 

Undergraduate IT Service Desk interns will work under the direct supervision of a manager & mentor and will be provided with hands-on participation in ongoing projects at one of the most unique experimental sites in the United States. The IT Service Desk Intern will help support the Service Desk at the North Las Vegas office. This can be a year round assignment; it would be part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide level I support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and/or network issues.
  • Assist with installing and upgrading hardware and software.
  • Interface with clients via Chat, Phone, Walk-in.
  • Perform client call backs.
  • Create and update Incident Tickets.
  • Draft and edit Knowledge Articles.

  • May 20th, 2025 - Summer internship Student Program begins
  • August 8th, 2025 - Summer internship Student Program concludes

Qualifications

Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

  • Completion of the first year of a related degree program at an accredited institution.
  • Must be actively enrolled in school with at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must live in the contiguous United States.
  • Strong computer skills desired, including all MS Office products.
  • Experience installing hardware and software for personal computing needs preferred.
  • Must be a team player with good customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills desired.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of personnel in a professional, effective manner.
  • The primary work location will be at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’

Hourly range for this position is $15.00 - $20.99.

 

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
