Responsibilities

The Information Technology Directorate is looking for a strong Applications Analyst II to join the Data Services team.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Dashboard Development: Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports to support business decision-making.
  • Data Modeling: Create and optimize data models to ensure data integrity and performance in Power BI.
  • Performance Tuning: Optimize Power BI reports and dashboards for speed and efficiency.
  • Data Visualization: Utilize best practices in data visualization to present complex data in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Data Integration: Integrate data from multiple sources to create comprehensive reports and dashboards.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing and validation of reports and dashboards to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of all reports, dashboards, and data sources.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, business analysts, and other stakeholders, to understand and meet business needs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest Power BI features and best practices to continuously improve the reporting and analytics capabilities.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure that all reports and dashboards comply with organizational data security policies and standards.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications

Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field or equivalent training and experience with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field or equivalent training and experience, with at least 3+ years of experience with complex data models and reports in PowerBI.
  • Exposure to Denodo (preferred) or other data virtualization platforms.
  • Experience with developing data pipelines from many sources - structured and unstructured data sets in a variety of formats.
  • Experience in developing ETL processes and performing test and validation steps.
  • Strong understanding of the agile principles and ability to apply them.
  • Strong understanding of the CI/CD pipelines and ability to apply them to the data universe.
  • Experience with hands on SQL coding.
  • Work comfortably in version control systems, such as, Git Repositories.
  • Exposure to experience with developing visualizations for PowerBI.
  • Experience in developing Shell scripts on Linux or PowerShell.
  • Exposure to one or more business domains – HR, Procurement, Finance, Professional Service.
  • Interest in and experience with hands on coding with process automation.
  • Have an affinity for customer service excellence, innovation, collaboration, and teamwork.
  • A strong interest in and exposure to data driven decision making.
  • Work will be conducted remotely.  Some work at our Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada is required in support of these functions.
  • Flexible work schedule can be negotiated with the manager; employees can work 5/8s, 9/80s, or 4/10s.
  • Personnel may be requested by leadership to work in excess of 40 hours per week due to projects, activities, and emergences; critical operational demands may occasionally require off-shift work.
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’

Hourly salary range for this position is $35.26 - $52.89.

 

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
