    Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities

    • Work as a member of a small team supporting engineers, scientists, and senior technicians in building, testing, and fielding complex diagnostic systems.
    • Will utilize the following skills: analog and digital electronics, mechanical design and fabrication technologies, circuit board assembly and troubleshooting, instrumentation chassis assembly and construction, soldering techniques and workmanship standards.
    • Must have experience in the use of basic and powered hand tools, must have a working knowledge of a variety of laboratory instrumentation such as digitizing storage oscilloscopes, digital delay generators, high-bandwidth analog and digital fiber links, and other electronic test and measurement equipment, a working knowledge of computer programming is desirable.
    • Candidate will be mentored and work under the direct supervision of experienced engineers, scientists, and technicians as part of a team developing and fielding a variety of unique and complex diagnostic systems.
    • Work collaboratively with a diverse group of scientists, engineers, and technicians developing innovative solutions to customer-driven applied R&D.
    • Accept individual responsibility and accountability for environment, safety, health, and quality processes within personal control, personal safety, and the safety of co-workers.
    • Comply with established regulations and procedures for environment, safety, health, and quality and perform duties in a way that will not cause personal danger, endanger other individuals, or violate environment, safety, health, and quality regulations.
    • Promptly correct or report any hazard or potential hazard to supervision. Understand the principles associated with the MSTS safety concept.
    • Participate in and embrace MSTS environment, safety, health, and quality initiatives.

    Qualifications

    Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

    • Associate's degree or equivalent training and experience plus 2 years' of progressive related experience or High School diploma or equivalent training and experience plus 4 years' of progressive related experience.
    • Must be self-motivated and able to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision. 
    • Demonstrated strong time-management and organization skills, as well as an ability to maintain a safe work environment are highly desired. 
    • Good written and verbal communication skills are desired.
    • Must possess an appropriate, valid driver's license.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must have valid driver's license.

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.

     

    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”
