  • Qualifications

    Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and at least 5 years of professional level experience, or equivalent training and experience.
    • Proficient in use of MS Office, HRIS (Oracle, Workday or PeopleSoft preferred) and Talent Management Systems.
    • Experience in conducting investigations and recommending corrective actions.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze and interpret facts.
    • Must be able to demonstrate independence in work.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information.
    • Knowledge of Human Resources principles, EEOC laws and DOL regulations.
    • Proficient in use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS (Oracle, PeopleSoft).
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.

     

    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    Responsibilities

    MSTS is looking for an Employee Relations Specialist to support our HR team. In this role, you will provide advice and support to HR and management as it pertains to employee performance; employee and legal complaints and concerns; and policy interpretation and application. You will work with a variety of organizations to collect and analyze facts and evaluate situations to determine appropriate corrective action. You will be required to work in a multi-location environment that will require travel periodically to the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada) and occasional travel to other locations as needed.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage and resolve complex employee relations matters in a consistent and legally sound manner.
    • Conduct investigations, as appropriate, including remote or onsite interviews with key individuals utilizing standard investigation processes.
    • Consult and advise management regarding workplace issues and recommend appropriate personnel actions in accordance with Company policies and guidelines and applicable laws.
    • Assist managers in preparing corrective action documents and performance improvement plans, and preparing for employee conversations.
    • Assist employees with workforce issues by actively listening to concerns, managing expectations, and handling the case in a sensitive manner.
    • Communicate and interact effectively with all levels within the organization; cultivating a high level of trust with all employees.
    • Maintain accurate, confidential records regarding all investigations.
    • Assist in the administration of the company Drug Screen Program.
    • Develop, monitor and maintain internal and external reporting requirements.
    • Coordinate with Legal Counsel on guidance, as necessary.
    • Remain current and informed in the field of Employee Relations. Maintain up to date knowledge of federal and state labor laws.
    • Provide support for Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) audits.
    • Develop and conduct organizational briefings (EEO, AA, and Harassment) as needed.
