  • Qualifications

    Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 11 years' of related and progressively responsible experience.

    • Q clearance is desired.
    • Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
    • Able to effectively maintain constructive working relationships at all levels of the organization.
    • Must be highly organized, proficient at multitasking, and be self-motivated and able to complete tasks independently.
    • Must be willing to complete training to become qualified as an emergency responder.
    • Must be available for emergency recall 24 hours a day during specific periods of time.
    • Must be willing to perform during non-working hours and must take on-call duty.
    • Must have demonstrated ability to interact with scientific and technical staff.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must have a valid driver's license. 

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.


    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide oversight of training for emergency response; this includes programmatic training requirements for response assets as well as training execution performed by our organization for regional Department of Energy (DOE) responders
    • Oversee resource allocation for emergency response events, training, and exercises
    • Manage the personnel readiness process for new and existing response personnel
    • Create, maintain, and track documentation for deployments and exercises
    • Manage deployment logistics for multiple teams
    • Maintain staff for the Readiness-Nellis Section by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
    • Develop, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, procedures and productivity standards
    • Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations
    • Monitor and appraise job results
    • Coach, counsel, and discipline staff, as required
    • Create an environment where employees feel safe to raise issues, empowered to address issues, and supported to resolve issues
    • Resolve quality and customer service issues
    • Negotiate required support with individual asset program managers and meet deliverables on time and within budget
    • Develop innovative solutions that can improve project performance
    • Perform related work as provided by manager
    • Take immediate action to correct reported or observed unacceptable environment, safety, health, and quality conditions/behaviors
    • Must have professional interpersonal skills to appropriately communicate and address issues with senior-level management, Headquarters (HQ) customers, and federal oversight personnel
    • Regularly face conflicting and/or challenging deadlines
    • Must exhibit professionalism, discretion, and exude a customer service attitude
    • Regularly utilize and retrieve information from DOE emergency response data management systems and operational tracking systems
    • Perform related work as assigned by their Manager
