  • Qualifications

    Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

    • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the position or equivalent training and experience, plus 8 years' of progressive related experience.
    • Knowledge of theory and concepts of general physical science and engineering encompassing a wide spectrum of Nevada Enterprise technical programs.
    • Knowledge of Department of Energy (DOE) and Nevada National Security Site (NNSA) policies, procedures, and regulations for security, safeguards, information classification, classified material protection, and classified material marking.
    • Experience in classroom instruction and technical editing.
    • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management to provide the guidance, training, support, and services required to implement the classification and controlled unclassified information program.
    • Must be capable of successfully completing the local DC/RO Training, DOE General Course for Classification Officers/Analysts, and DOE General Course for Derivative De-classifiers. 
    • Must possess and maintain a DOE "Q" clearance.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must have a valid driver's license.

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program. Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    Responsibilities

    Support the Mission Support and Technical Services, LLC (MSTS) Classification Office in the administration and operation of the classified and controlled unclassified information program.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Report to and directly support the MSTS Classification Officer (CO).
    • Under delegated authority from the MSTS CO, perform classification and controlled unclassified information review of scientific and technical information products and other items including reports, papers, presentations, posters, abstracts, patent applications, training materials, videos, photographs, shipping requests, excess material auctions, press releases, speeches, etc., in accordance with applicable classification guidance and public release.
    • Provide technical support to all MSTS, Nevada Field Office (NFO), and other Nevada Enterprise Derivative Classifiers/Reviewing Officials (DC/RO) and Derivative Declassifiers as subject matter expert on document review and marking.
    • Assist in determining proper guidance to be used as well as interpretation and understanding of guidance.
    • Participate as a classroom instructor for new DC/RO training and assist in the preparation of annual refresher and biennial practical exam materials.
    • Participate in the developing, writing, and editing of classification office company documents.
    • Participate in and/or lead annual self-assessment and document decision reviews.
    • Assist with mandatory periodic review and revision of local guidance, bulletins, and advisories to include coordinating approval by the NFO CO, National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) CO, Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Classification, and other jurisdictions, as applicable.
    • Fill the Classification Advisor position for Emergency Operations Center exercises and call-out, as needed.
    • Be able to work at the NLVF and the NNSS in order establish a classification office presence at the NNSS.
    • Perform all work with minimal supervision and latitude in scheduling work priorities.
    • Perform related work as assigned by supervisor.
