  • Qualifications

    Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent training and experience, plus at least 14 years’ related experience. Related experience must be in nuclear facility management, maintenance/engineering, radiation protection, safety, nuclear training and qualification management, conduct of operations, nuclear operations, nuclear safety, and/or criticality safety.
    • Additionally, 8 years' experience in:
      • Project management, readiness assessments and Independent Verification Reviews; knowledgeable of DOE O 425.1D, DOE Standard 3006-2010, DOE O 426.2, and DOE O 422.1 requirements.

      • Nuclear operations or nuclear maintenance such as those found at a DOE nuclear facility, commercial power plant, or US Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program. Working knowledge of Conduct of Operations (DOE O 422.1), Nuclear Maintenance (DOE O 433.1B), Transportation & Packaging (DOE O 460.1C and 461.1B), and Quality Assurance requirements (DOE O 414.1D); or

      • High explosives handling and operations; or chemical handling, storage, transfer, and controlled release activities. Working knowledge of Conduct of Operations (DOE O 422.1), Transportation & Packaging (DOE O 460.1C and 461.1B), and Quality Assurance requirements (DOE O 414.1D).

    • Experience working as a member of a team of professional and technical personnel. In-depth experience analyzing complex technical problems and develop solutions in a systematic way. 
    • Experience working in schedule-driven environments. 
    • Experience in the following areas desired:
      • Nuclear explosive safety program environment;
      • NNSA related activities involving significant quantities of nuclear materials;
      • Military nuclear weapons programs.  
    • Ability to travel daily to remote locations.  Work an adjusted work schedule of four, ten-hour days, not including time to travel to and from the NNSS forward areas, with occasional extended hours or extra days as programmatic or facility needs dictate. 
    • Must possess appropriate, valid driver’s license. 
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level) and Human Reliability Program (reference 10 CFR Part 712, “Human Reliability Program”) certification. Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program. Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    Responsibilities

    Serve as a Nuclear Facilities Work Window Coordinator to perform as an intermediary between operations, maintenance, work planning, procurement, engineering, construction, and other support organizations. As an integral part of our Nuclear Asset Operations team, you will collaborate with external and internal partners to attain desired success states and sustain operations at NNSS Nuclear Facilities.

     

    Key Responsibilities

     

    Plans, organizes and directs programs and/or processes applicable to Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) nuclear facilities, operations and activities. Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

    • Ensure planned operations, maintenance and construction activities can be executed as scheduled during their assigned work execution periods.
    • Verify associated work packages have been generated and approved, necessary parts are on hand, special authorizations have been obtained and necessary resources are available.
    • Provide feedback to the maintenance and scheduling organizations related to viability of schedules.
    • Drive work planning and engineering priorities for activities related to future work execution.
    • Interface with procurement organization for parts prioritization and future needs.
    • Accept individual responsibility and accountability for environment, safety, health, and quality processes within personal control, personal safety, and the safety of co-workers. Comply with established regulations and procedures for environment, safety, health, and quality and perform duties in a way that will not cause personal danger, endanger other individuals, or violate environment, safety, health, and quality regulations. Promptly correct or report any hazard or potential hazard to supervision. Participate in and embrace MSTS environment, safety, health, and quality initiatives.
