MSTS is a limited liability company consisting of Honeywell International Inc. (Honeywell), Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (Jacobs), and Stoller Newport News Nuclear, Inc. (SN3).



Performs work of limited scope and basic complexity, generally in support of more senior Scientist/Engineer’s. Develops solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope. Focus is on applying academic knowledge to the work and developing good work/team habits. Assists in data collection, compiling and summarizing data. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Works under direct supervision with general guidance from more experienced Scientist/Engineer's with diagnostic development and or deployment. 
  • Limited use of technical principles, theories, and concepts.  
  • Follows specific established engineering and technical procedures and instructions.  
  • Exercises discretion and judgment in collaboration with peers regarding how principles and methods are selected for and applied to work. 
  • Contributes to solutions of assignment-related problems and issues with a limited scope, solutions may require evaluation of standards and processes.
  • Supports field programs and designs using pre-determined principles and practices.
  • Contributes to designs, strategies, reports and technical proposals.
  • Assists in performing design and technical analysis activities using prescribed codes and standards, computer software, and generally accepted best management practices.
  • Develops a working knowledge of codes and standards of other disciplines.
  • Follows specific established engineering and technical procedures and instructions.
  • Assists in defining specifications for procurements and initiates purchase requests.
  • May monitor the work of and provide guidance to technicians and other support personnel, working on their projects.
  • Assist in the development, improvement, and systematization of organizational processes and procedures for engineering design control and documentation, as well as the organization’s configuration management processes. 
  • Assist in the development of processes relevant to electrical and software design in support of the organizations applied engineering work.
  • Work locations will include the North Las Vegas Facility and the Nevada National Security Site.


Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  • Basic knowledge of engineering equipment, software, systems, calculations, and applications of engineering methods. 
  • Experience with working in a team environment that includes scientist, engineers, technicians, and designers. 
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision in a dynamic multidisciplinary project environment with simultaneous commitments to performance, cost, and schedule.  
  • Must have excellent oral/written communications skills. 
  • Must possess planning/organizing skills and initiative, and be capable of employing independent judgment and knowledge to ensure that requirements are completed efficiently and on time. 
  • Must be able to effectively deal with pressures of deadlines and multiple tasks.
  • Experience using standard office software products. 
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, work independently, and work as part of a team.
  • Limited travel is require.  
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”


Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”
