    MSTS is a limited liability company consisting of Honeywell International Inc. (Honeywell), Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (Jacobs), and HII Nuclear Inc.


    This position will serve as an Engineer II in the Crane, Hoisting & Rigging Program, responsible for supporting Crane, Hoisting and Rigging activities at the National Nuclear Security Site.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Interface with equipment manufacturers to modify equipment (i.e. auxiliary data plates) as required.
    • Perform regular emissions testing on underground diesel powered equipment.
    • Participates in developing field programs and designs using predetermined principles and practices.
    • Prepares or contributes to designs, strategies, reports and technical proposals.
    • Performs design and technical analysis activities using prescribed codes and standards, computer software, and generally accepted best management practices.
    • Frequent coordination of discipline information within their discipline, other departments within the company, and outside vendors on moderately complex projects.
    • Works with outside contacts as required obtaining relevant information.
    • Develops a working knowledge of codes and standards of other disciplines.
    • Perform regular load testing on various types of equipment.
    • Follows established engineering and technical procedures and instructions.
    • Often serves as a member of work teams.
    • Defines and develops specification writing for the procurement of new vehicles and equipment.
    • Monitors work of technicians and other support personnel working on their projects.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Inspection Hoisting & Rigging Department.


    Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.


    • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), plus at least 2 years’ relevant experience.
    • Ability to interpret codes and standards within the discipline in which they were hired.
    • General understanding of hoisting and rigging requirements as it relates to American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B30 series regulations.
    • Possess a general knowledge of construction and rigging equipment/tools such as loaders, scrapers, overhead cranes, slings, shackles, chains etc.
    • Intermediate knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Possess excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
    • Working knowledge of a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
    • Should be self-motivated and able to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
    • Work Hours for this position are 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday – Thursday.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required; MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must have a valid Driver's License.

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.


    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”
