  • Qualifications

    Nuclear Facility Worker - This position is subject to the requirements of DOE Order 426.2.  Education and experience requirements will be screened accordingly.


    Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.


    • Bachelor's degree in Business or Management, or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 11 years' of related and progressively responsible experience.
    • Master's Degree preferred.
    • Possess detailed knowledge of various missions and responsibilities at the NNSS.
    • Demonstrated skill to plan, organize, lead, and monitor a wide variety of team efforts to achieve successful completion of tasks.
    • Must exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others, and the ability to maintain constructive working relationships at all levels.
    • Established experience with crane, hoisting and rigging operations.
    • Have direct knowledge of and experience with OSHA, ASME, and DOE standards compliance requirements related to crane, hoisting and rigging operations.
    • Demonstrated work experience with maintenance, inspection, operations and dispatch of crane operations.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to understand/explain technical concepts to non-technical personnel/customers/clients.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to travel and work non-standard hours on short notice if required.
    • Work hours for this position are 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.


    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    This position will serve as the manager for the Crane, Hoisting and Rigging Program within the site Services Division, and will be responsible for executing all related activities for the National Nuclear Security Site (NNSS), reporting directly to the Site Services Manager.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Supporting and executing all of the Crane, Hoisting and Rigging Program activities at the NNSS and ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and health Administration (OSHA), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and Department of Energy (DOE) Standards.
    • Responsible for managing all crane programmatic requirements, maintenance, inspection, operations, and dispatch of all crane, including hoisting and rigging activities, and field supervision of crane operations.
    • Interacting frequently with all levels of Management, both within and outside the organization.
    • Assisting with cost management and cost performance analysis pertaining to the Crane, Hoisting & Rigging Program.
    • Scheduling and monitoring Crane, Hoisting & Rigging Program performance measures.
    • Coordinating multiple parallel projects and activities related to the Crane, Hoisting & Rigging Program across the NNSS to ensure all objectives are met.
    • Performing staff functions within Crane, Hoisting & Rigging Program associated with staff levels, materials management, budget planning and cost performance to ensure efficiency is maximized.
    • Assisting staff and the Site Services Division Manager in maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment.
