    Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.


    • Bachelor’s degree in a calculus-based (STEM) field. 
    • Demonstrated leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement.
    • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal with all types of people in a tactful, professional, and effective manner while screening and maintaining confidentiality.
    • Must possess excellent oral communication skills.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office; word processing and Excel spreadsheets.
    • Must be able to effectively deal with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
    • Schedule will be 4/10s (Monday - Thursday) at NNSS in Mercury, Nevada.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must have a valid driver's license.

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.


    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    Key Responsibilities


    Provide Industrial Hygiene support to underground facilities and other projects.  

    • Maintain, operate, and ensure calibration of a variety of sampling; and monitoring equipment ensuring the equipment is functioning properly.
    • Conduct Personal/Area Air and Gas Sampling as required per project (i.e. Beryllium, Lead, and Noise).
    • Conduct routine swipe sampling as required per project to characterize work/adjoining areas, release items.
    • Coordinate submittal of samples (air, swipe, and dosimetry) to laboratory.
    • Attend pre-job briefings per project, focusing on industrial hygiene issues.
    • Observe and document work activities.
    • Evaluate and interpret results with regard to environmental, safety, and health impacts.  Reviews results with Scientist.
    • Work with staff and management to prepare technical reports and recommendations on how to correct hazardous conditions.
