  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the position or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant, progressively responsible experience, which included 2 years’ experience in nuclear operations or nuclear maintenance such as those found at a DOE nuclear facility, commercial power plant, or US Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program.
    • Excellent communication and writing skills are necessary to succeed in this position.
    • Must have the ability to obtain a valid Driver’s license (Real ID), a DOE “Q” clearance and Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification.
    • Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation.
    • Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.” Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    • Reports to the Nuclear Asset Operations Issues Management Manager.
    • Participates in the development of a performance measurement model in support of Nuclear Asset Operations strategic objectives.
    • Serves as a subject-matter expert in support of metrics analysis and trending of low level events and near misses to enhance safety performance for nuclear and high hazard facilities.
    • Performs trending validation observations at nuclear and high hazard facilities and develops reports for senior management.
    • Provides input to support risk informed decision-making based on results of trending validation observations.
    • Conducts assessments, reviews, and analysis. Documents results and develops reports.
    • Participates in Contractor Readiness Assessments (CRAs), Contractor Operational Readiness Reviews (CORRs) and support DOE Operational Readiness Reviews (ORRs) and Federal Readiness Assessments (FRAs) as a subject-matter expert in the areas of issues management and causal analysis.
