  • Qualifications

    Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field and at least 2 years of professional level experience or equivalent training and experience. 
    • Ability to use independent judgement, creativity, initiative, knowledge, and experience to resolve problems.
    • Able to deal with pressure of handing multiple tasks, complaints, frequent interruptions, and time constraints.
    • Must possess good interpersonal skills with proficient verbal and written communications capabilities.
    • Experience in emergency operations center highly desired.
    • Domestic travel will be required approximately 10% of time.
    • A  "Q" clearance is desired. 
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must possess a valid driver's license

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.

     

    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    Responsibilities

    Serve as an Emergency Response Specialist for the Readiness Section in the Emergency Response Support & Logistics (ERS&L) Department.  Located at the Remote Sensing Laboratory (RSL) on Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Perform functions as the “Watchbill Coordinator” for a variety of National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) emergency response teams. 

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Maintain, asset team, and scenario information for emergency response teams in the NNSA notification system
    • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for the NNSA notification system and interface closely with system administrators to identify issues, concerns, or errors
    • Communicate on a regular basis with customers and stakeholders at various levels from numerous federal agencies
    • Manage the change-control process for updating data on rosters and within the notification system
    • Maintain contact information for over six hundred emergency response personnel
    • Provide broad support during exercises, drills, and real world events, to include roster reconstitution, special scenario requests, and other duties as assigned by the Watch Officer
    • Maintain, coordinate, and track emergency notifications to ensure proper operation of the system
    • Ensure all communications devices associated with the teams are operable, and maintain current device inventory
    • Professionally interface and coordinate with program managers and other personnel at all levels from NNSA and the Department of Energy (DOE) National Laboratories
    • Coordinate and prioritize conflicting and/or challenging deadlines
    • Exhibit a dedicated customer-service attitude and strive to provide excellent support to various stakeholders
    • Serve as an emergency response team member, and be available for recall 24 hours a day while on duty
    • Provide support during non-working hours
    • Serve as a backup for RSL Nuclear Response Division (NRD) rosters
    • Perform related work as assigned by Supervisor
    • Develop and maintain relationships with other government agencies and external parties to facilitate exercise/drill requirements
