  • Qualifications

    Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.


    • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). 
    • Mine experience ideal but not required.
    • Demonstrated desire to learn and innovate.
    • Should be self-motivated and able to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
    • Ideally, the applicant will have strong time-management skills. Be well organized, maintain safe work habits and have a broad range of technical interests and education.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write reports and technical documents.
    • Must possess a valid driver's license.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program. Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    You will serve as a Civil/Structural Facility/System Engineer within the Mission Support and Test Services LLC (MSTS) Nuclear Assets Directorate (NAO). 


    Key Responsibilities

    • Contributes to design and technical analysis activities using prescribed codes and standards, computer software, and generally accepted best management practices.
    • Coordinates project work with vendors and contractors.
    • Interprets and adapts guidelines for specific cases.
    • Evaluates nuclear facility processes, procedures, and work instructions to improve performance.
    • Provides information to regulatory customers on technical issues.
    • Prepares work statements for subcontracts and procurements, evaluates bids and makes recommendation for equipment or construction awards.
    • Works with team to define customer needs and develops technical proposals.
    • Participates in conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks.
    • Carries out specific assignments in preparing and assembling specifications.
    • Assists in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings.
    • Complies with established regulations and procedures for environment, safety, health, and quality and perform duties in a way that will not cause personal danger, endanger other individuals, or violate environment, safety, health, and quality regulations.
    • Understands the principles associated with the MSTS safety concept.
    • Participates in and embraces MSTS environment, safety, health, and quality initiatives.
