    MSTS is a limited liability company consisting of Honeywell International Inc. (Honeywell), Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (Jacobs), and HII Nuclear Inc.


    The Special Technologies Laboratory in Santa Barbara, CA is looking for someone to perform facility maintenance functions at a high skill level including but not limited to troubleshooting heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) concerns, routine plumbing, electrical, and custodial operations.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Movement, assembly and installation of furniture, modular partitions, equipment, or machinery.

    • Framing, dry wall, general carpentry and painting skills that are needed for repairs or minor building modification projects.

    • Assist the Section Supervisor by providing technical direction and guidance to other members of the Facilities Section on technical job details and building code requirements.

    • Assist with preparing purchase orders, scheduling, escorting, and supervision of any sub-contractors needed to assist with routine maintenance or repair activity tasks.


    Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

    • Associate degree in field related to the position plus at least 4 years’ progressive related experience or High School diploma plus 6 years’ progressive related experience.
    • Knowledge of regulatory code requirements in electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other related building codes is required.
    • Demonstrated skills in carpentry, metal fabrication, HVAC troubleshooting and repair, plumbing, electrical and painting is required.
    • Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal with all types of people in a tactful, professional, and effective manner are required.
    • Good oral communication skills are required.
    • Familiar with personal computer software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and Visio or similar software is required.
    • Ability to effectively deal with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks is required.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.


    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”
