  • Qualifications

    Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

    • Bachelors’ degree in a computer related field and 5 years' of progressive related experience, or equivalent training and experience, plus experience in communications or related discipline in Telephony or Communications Networks in addition to the formal CISCO certifications.
    • Desired knowledge of the Emergency Communications Network (ECN), RSL mission, Standardized Network Design, QOS Theory and Implementation, Network Security, Telephone switching, Fiber Optic Transmission systems.
    • Knowledge of packet inspection, IDS/IPS, HBSS operations, firewall policies, creation of custom host based and perimeter IDS/IPS signatures.
    • Understanding of encryption technologies, identity and authentication technologies.
    • Knowledge of network based services and client/server applications, familiarity with intrusion detection systems, familiarity with network architecture and security infrastructure placement.
    • Demonstrate expert knowledge of modern principles and practices of Cyber Security; certification and accreditation, network architecture, vulnerability identification and remediation, network forensics, ability to assist during an intrusion investigation.
    • Routing and Switching products from a formal training institution or relevant experience. Microsoft Windows to include system architecture, configuration, file system structures and system management techniques.
    • Must have working technical knowledge of Microsoft Window environment including Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Window 2008 Server, Windows 7, Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2007.
    • Working knowledge of LAN/WAN infrastructure to include fast Ethernet and TCP/IP. Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must have current driver's license.


    Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”


    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    Serve as a Sr. Cyber Security Analyst for the Emergency Communications Network (ECN) Program at the Remote Sensing Laboratory, Nellis (RSLN) on Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. The Senior Cyber Security Analyst will assist with the installation, operation and maintenance of the Cyber Security Solutions as it relates to network infrastructure equipment including CISCO routers, switches and Communications Managers on existing and future network sites.

    • Assist with projects including scheduling, budgeting, cost estimation, tracking, and reporting.
    • Support and ensures implementation of all Cyber Security directives; provides leadership and motivates staff; and may be designated to act in the capacity of a lead by a Supervisor or Manager in their absence, as necessary.
    • Research hackers, hacker techniques, vulnerabilities, exploits, and provides detailed briefings and intelligence reports.
    • Support design/deployment/maintenance of new and existing security infrastructure capabilities.
    • Assist with a variety of Cyber Security policy compliance tasks such as discovering unauthorized devices, conducting site surveys for noncompliance and ensuring network access requirements are met.
    • Perform compliance scans related to network devices for vulnerabilities and configuration baseline compliance and reports findings.
    • Review Cyber Security threat information and participates in escalation of mitigating vulnerabilities identified.
    • Monitor intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
    • Write technical proposals, procedures and preparing network design documentation.
    • Assist the Information Security Site Manager (ISSM) and Information Safeguards and Security Officer (ISSO) with the execution of their assigned duties.
    • Act as liaison and collaborates with Cyber Security, IT staff, Counterintelligence, the customer, other organizations (within NvE and at other Department of Energy (DOE) sites), United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US CERT) and law enforcement.
    • Support national emergency response groups’ emergency response drills, exercises, and real world events through on-call availability and travel via commercial and military aircraft when required.
    • Contribute in a team environment to evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations.
    • Travel as part of an installation or restoration team when directed and participate as a deployed member of the National Emergency Response Groups when required.
    • Promote project management best practices and coaches project team members in applying the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities that promote project success and continuous improvement.
