  • Qualifications

    Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or in an Engineering Program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), plus at least 5 years’ relevant experience.
    • Master’s degree is preferred.
    • Skill building experience must demonstrate either deeper technical specialization or additional cross-disciplinary knowledge.
    • Wide background and experience in electronics to include: digital, analog, broadband radio frequency (RF), and printed circuit board (PCB) design and layout.  Field-programmable gate array (FPGA) experience is desired.
    • Strong programming skills in the embedded microprocessor environment is preferred.
    • Digital signal processing experience is a plus.
    • Must be able to interact with all levels of customers from technical staff to executives.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write reports and technical documents.
    • Self-motivated an able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to support occasional field events.
    • Must possess the skills to promote an open and informal communications environment and develop mutual trust and teamwork.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program. Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    Responsibilities

    Perform as a Senior Electrical Engineer for the Advanced Technology Solutions section of the Special Programs Department located at the Remote Sensing Laboratory (RSL-N), located on Nellis Air Force Base. This section’s main efforts involve developing and delivering specialized instruments for customer field use.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform as a Senior Electrical Engineer for the Advanced Technology Solutions section of the Special Programs Department located at the Remote Sensing Laboratory (RSL-N), located on Nellis Air Force Base. This section’s main efforts involve developing and delivering specialized instruments for customer field use.
    • Serve as an engineering team leader in support of various Strategic Partnership Projects (SPP) and Strategic Intelligence Partnership Projects (SIPP).
    • Active participant from the initial idea development, proposal writing, technical work, progress reporting, and generation of final report(s).
    • Provide technical support, technical direction, and collaboration with other engineers and technical project team members on multiple projects.
    • Develop engineering designs for early proof of concept units that may lead to advanced prototype fabrication.
    • Technical tasks will include, but are not limited to; component selection, circuit board layout, testing, and troubleshooting at component level.
    • Work with Project Managers to define, outline and create cost estimates and scope of work for various customers.
    • Work with the design team to develop customized mechanical packaging to meet the customers design requirements.
    • Define specifications for procurements and initiates purchase requests.
    • Must be a self-starter with the ability to operate with minimal supervision and deliver projects on time and within budget constraints.
