  • Qualifications

    Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

    • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent training and experience and at least 14 years' relevant experience.
    • Eight years of related nuclear facility operations experience with focus on implementation of Documented Safety Basis/Technical Safety Requirements is preferred.
    • Experience managing/coordinating projects or activities of broad scope that require interdisciplinary and interagency coordination.
    • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
    • Excellent writing and analytical skills.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or similar, a plus.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must have valid driver's license.

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to the level) and Human Reliability Program (reference 10 CFR Part 712, "Human Reliability Program") certification. Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, "Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites," will be conducted. Applicate selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, will be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, "Counterintelligence Evaluation Program."

     

    Eligibility Requirements - To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, "Personnel Security."

    Responsibilities

    The Mission Development and Implementation (MD&I) Directorate is seeking a Technical Lead to coordinate the integration of new missions and other projects into Nuclear and High Hazard facilities /activities managed by the Nuclear Assets Operations (NAO) Senior Directorate. Working on behalf of NAO Senior Management and the respective Nuclear Facility or High Hazard Facility Managers, you will serve as the technical broker amongst stakeholders (Federal, Nuclear Weapons Laboratories, Security Contractor, etc.)

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Must be a "self-starter", capable of researching a project, developing viable alternatives to execution, and subsequently driving the project to a successful conclusion.
    • Prepare NAO facility infrastructure, processes, procedures, and facility staff to execute new missions successfully as planned. Areas of emphasis in the organization includes regulations, readiness, facility and/or project start-up activities.
    • Provide superior leadership as an Integrated Project Team Leader for major mission-critical operational and construction activities involving multiple organizations. Provide direct interface with MSTS managers/support organizations, the Joint Laboratory Office - Nevada, managers and supervisors from the National Weapons Laboratories, and federal counterparts.
    • Actively initiate and lead collaboration for major projects and startups with all stakeholders (internal and external) to attain desired success state and sustain operations.
    • Provide expert level knowledge of facility integration requirements to new missions and projects.
    • Identify and tailor applicable functional, operational, and compliance-based requirements for missions, projects and activities at NAO managed facilities.
    • Create and maintain a communication/information conduit between mission project and facility.
    • Support safety basis implementation and readiness activities in nuclear facilities.
