  • Qualifications

    • Associate degree in field related to the position plus at least 4 years’ progressive related experience or High School diploma plus 6 years’ progressive related experience.
    • Basic bench skills, such as soldering, wiring, and assembly of mechanical chassis.
    • Ability to read schematics and mechanical drawings to assist in the bring-up and debug of electronic hardware.
    • Familiar with basic test equipment such as digital oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, signal generators and power supplies required, familiarity with spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, and optical analyzers is a plus.
    • Good organization and documentation skills to collate test data and tracking of redline changes to engineering documentation.
    • Experience in high performance, high reliability equipment is a plus.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.


    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    We are seeking a technologist who will be an important part of a team/teams dedicated to the development of electro-optical, RF, microwave, imaging and detector based diagnostic systems. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently under minimal supervision of the diagnostics engineering staff, and have a passion to learn new skills in order to grow within our dynamic organization.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide technical support in the prototyping, testing and fielding of high performance electronic diagnostic equipment.
    • Support technical staff in research and procurement of various electronic parts and materials.
    • Set-up of test benches and drafting of test procedures and work controls.
    • Construct test fixtures and support engineers in basic chassis design and system integration.
    • Makes calculations and performs analyses in support of design engineering, such as earthwork, material quantity takeoff and statistical data.
    • Design and develop electronic circuits that will be integral parts of diagnostic systems.
    • Re-design, modify, and troubleshoot existing electronic systems to meet changing technical requirements.
    • Write work procedures and write/maintain comprehensive documentation of test data, modification and configuration control documentation.
    • Draw and update schematic diagrams.
    • Operate and maintain test equipment and software.
