  • Qualifications

    • Must be enrolled in a formal cooperative education program as an undergraduate or graduate master's program through an accredited college or university.
    • Completion of the first year of an engineering degree program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
    • Completion of first two years towards a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
    • The declared degree must pertain to the organizational unit to which the individual will be assigned.
    • Fundamental understanding of 2D and 3D design.
    • Experience with 2D/3D CAD software.
    • Skills and abilities in mechanical engineering and basic assembly and construction principles.
    • Ability to accurately track project elements and write reports.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Candidate must possess a valid driver's license.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.

    Responsibilities

    THIS IS A CO-OP POSITION

     

    Co-op student supports Livermore Operations scientists and engineers in the engineering design process, may assist with fabricating and system control chassis and subsystems. Employs established technical standards, practices and procedures when troubleshooting test units. In addition, candidate will be responsible for assisting in experimental setup of electronics in support of diagnostics development and calibrations.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform mechanical design utilizing 3D software (PROe).
    • Perform the duties of an entry level designer in order to communicate to a design lead.
    • Perform mechanical designs for 3D modeling and have a general understanding of 2D technical drawings, produced by a designer for an engineer.
