  • Qualifications

     

    • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the position and a minimum of 14 years of related and progressively responsible experience, or equivalent training experience.
    • 10 years of experience of safely managing DOE (or other government) projects.
    • Demonstrated experience managing Capital Asset Projects per DOE Order 413 desirable.
    • Demonstrated experience leading large complex projects (> $10 million), including the initation, planning, execution, and closeout.
    • Demonstrated experience managing/leading groups greater than 10 direct reports.
    • Must possess planning and organizing skills, and initiative.
    • Demonstrated ability to achieve excellence, set expectations and monitor delegated activities to closure, especially with ambiguity and conflicting priorities.
    • Must possess effective oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal communications skills to deal effectively and in a positive and professional manner.
    • Experience in design, construction, or system engineering in a Department of Energy facility is highly desirable
    • Demonstrated ability to develop budgets, standards and metrics.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) is desirable.
    • The ability to obtain a Q clearance, and the willingness and capability to be reliability certified if requested.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

    Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Director, Mission Support Engineering & Construction, this position will provide leadership and direction to the Project Management Division to ensure the efficient, effective and integrated implementation of corporate policies, commitments, and initiatives across the enterprise in order to enable mission success in meeting design & construction project objectives (Projects).

     

    • Provide leadership, direction, and ensure accountability for Mission Support managed Projects.
    • Organize, staff, and lead the group to deliver projects ensuring adherence to the company's management and leadership philosophy.
    • Foster successful relationships across Mission Support and the enterprise to maintain a collaborative working environment among the various components of the MSTS and Nevada Enterprise organizations.
    • Establishes strategic goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, service, and operations information; identifying and evaluating trends and options; choosing a course of action; defining objectives; evaluating outcomes.
    • Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of Mission Support Projects.
    • Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of- the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
    • Demonstrate environment, safety, health, and quality leadership and consistently enforce environment, safety, health, and quality policies and procedures.
    • Take immediate action to correct reported or observed unacceptable environment, safety, health and quality conditions and/or behaviors.
    • Assure that appropriate procedures, training, and tools are provided to employees to permit work to be performed safely and efficiently.
    • Promote and actively participate in the Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) safety concept. Support and encourage employee participation in MSTS environment, safety, health, and quality initiatives.
