  • Qualifications

    • Bachelors' degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 8 years' of related and progressively responsible experience.
    • Knowledge of facility maintenance duties such as carpentry, painting, flooring, plumbing, HVAC, and janitorial disciplines is required.
    • Demonstrated leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement and team building is required.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal with all types of people in a tactful, professional, and effective manner while screening and maintaining confidentiality is required.
    • Excellent oral communication skills are required.
    • Knowledge of personal computer software applications, including word-processing, spreadsheet, and Visio or similar software, is required.
    • Ability to effectively deal with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks is required.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.


    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    Perform the duties of a Supervisor for the Special Technologies Laboratory (STL) Facilities Section, to include direct supervision of the day-to-day activities of 3-4 employees including approving time, conducting performance evaluations, and participating in recruitment, selection, orientation, and training of employees.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Monitor employee work performance against agreed upon goals and metrics and provide technical direction and guidance on their work performance.
    • Responsible for coordinating the purchase orders, scheduling, escorting, and supervision of any sub-contractors needed to assist with routine maintenance or repair activity tasks. 
    • Responsible for supervising and performing, if needed, routine facility maintenance tasks which include but are not limited to troubleshooting HVAC concerns, routine plumbing, painting, electrical, janitorial and custodial operations. Also may include the movement, assembly and installation of furniture, modular partitions, equipment, or machinery.
    • Perform the duties of the Alternate Facility Manager (FM) including assisting the FM with writing, updating, and implementing the STL Facility Execution Plan (FEP) and Support Execution Plan (SEP).
    • Assist the FM in collecting facility data, condition status and cost information for FIMS, Builder and other facility management databases and data calls.
    • Responsible for completing Facility Manager training for Non-Nuclear Facilities Qualification Program (FAC0150).
    • Ensure that employees are aware and follow company policies and procedures, and will create an environment where employees feel safe to raise issues, empowered to address issues, and supported to resolve issues.
