  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in related field and at least two years’ of professional level experience or equivalent training and experience. 
    • Desired two years' experience in Nuclear Operations, Maintenance, and Construction or in the Department of Energy Complex is highly desirable.
      • Journeyman craft worker and/or experience in planning for multi-craft work force, performing material procurements, and post maintenance testing is a plus.
    • Ability to demonstrate a general knowledge of Civil, HVAC, electrical and/or mechanical applications for use in planning and estimating work is desirable.
    • Experience with business software applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Computer Maintenance Management Systems is required.
    • General knowledge of National Electric Code, Uniform Building Code, and Uniform Plumbing Code is required.
    • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.


    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program. Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    • Interface with National Laboratory personnel, Nuclear Maintenance personnel, Environmental Safety, Health, and Quality (ESH&Q) personnel, project managers, and craft personnel as needed to plan Type 1, 2, 3, and 4 work packages and control procedures.
    • Planner must have sufficient knowledge to perform the responsibilities for preventive and corrective maintenance work packages, preventive maintenance procedures, surveillance's, in-service inspections, and construction activity work packages.
    • Responsible to determine job hazards, define appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be used by workers, schedule tasks and project elements to eliminate interference's and enhance the safe execution of work and to track and trend work packages for continuous improvement.
    • Provide opportunities for improving the definition and planning of work as identified and implemented.
    • Ensure work packages contain appropriate work instructions, proper forms, hazard identification and mitigation checklist, appropriate lessons learned, and other information as required to facilitate safe, secure, and quality work at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) and North Las Vegas (NLV) facilities. Perform related work as assigned by supervisor.
    • Accept individual responsibility and accountability for environment, safety, health, and quality processes within personal control, personal safety, and the safety of co-workers.  Comply with established regulations and procedures for environment, safety, health, and quality and perform duties in a way that will not cause personal danger, endanger other individuals, or violate environment, safety, health, and quality regulations.  Promptly correct or report any hazard or potential hazard to supervision.  Understand the principles associated with the Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) safety concept.  Participate in and embrace MSTS environment, safety, health, and quality initiatives.
