  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in an education, training and instructional design, or adult education or related field and 5 years’ of professional level experience, or equivalent training and experience.
    • An instructor must have a minimum of:
      • Minimum 5 years' experience in military or public safety. E.g., fire service, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or related field as a hazmat technician or specialist assigned to a type 1-4 team.
      • Minimum of 2 years' experience in radiological/nuclear weapons of mass destruction (WMD) response
      • Minimum of 3 years' in adult education and/or training experience
    • National Guard or relevant active duty military experience along with subject matter expertise is preferred.
    • Experience in radiological/nuclear consequence management strategies.
    • Adult instructional experience in training the target audience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: radiological emergency response operations, health physics, radiological fundamentals, radiological field surveys, radiation detection and measurement instrumentation, radiological/nuclear WMD, interdiction of radiological/nuclear materials, nuclear materials safeguards, management of radiological contaminated patients, radiological hazard assessments, radiological dose assessments, hazardous materials response operations, National Incident Management System (NIMS), and incident management of large scale and/or catastrophic incidents.
    • Experience regarding large scale/catastrophic incident (e.g. wild fires, severe earthquakes, terrorist attacks) emergency response, emergency management, incident command, HAZMAT, and WMD response is desired.
    • Understanding of civilian response procedures, organizations, and governmental agency interfacing is required.
    • Professional experience with the following organizations is preferred: National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Energy (DOE), and Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO).
    • Experience, knowledge and application of the following guidance:  Presidential Policy Directive 8, National Preparedness and associated documents and programs (e.g. National Preparedness Goal, National Preparedness System, Strategic National Risk Assessment)  DHS guidance, and all aspects of NIMS.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
    • Computer skills with software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Must have a valid Driver’s License
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

    Responsibilities

    START DATE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

     

    The Center for Radiological/Nuclear Training (CRNT) at the Nevada National Security Site is seeking dynamic, qualified and experienced Instructors to join our cadre at the Mission Support and Test Services (MSTS) office in North Las Vegas, NV. The Center provides training nationwide to the National Guard, first responders, law enforcement, emergency medical services and other government and non-government organizations. The primary scope of training is response to radiological and nuclear weapons of mass destruction. Training is performance-based and includes classroom, hands-on, web-based, and field exercise training, conducted at venues across the country and at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). Responsibilities include delivering training in accordance with strict, high standards and working with Course Coordinators, Course Managers, the Operations Support Department, Radiological Control Technicians, Instructional and Curriculum Design teams, and others to effectively and efficiently deliver courses of instruction to the National Guard.

     

    • Prepare to deliver course materials by review and study of technical resources, Instructor Guides, PowerPoints, Station Guides, JPRs, Instrument Supplements, and other appropriate reference material.
    • Deliver high quality course material using proper communication and technical skills.
    • Maintain class control and ensure that all participants and staff members are treated with proper respect.
    • Work with all team members.
    • Comply with directions given by staff personnel such as managers, course coordinators and lead instructors.
    • Load, unload, prepare, inspect, utilize, maintain and stow course equipment.
    • Ensure that all safety practices and protocols are met.
    • Assist other instructors in the delivery of course material to insure all objectives are met.
    • Complete all required skill evaluations and forms for course delivery such as JPRs.
    • Maintain in-service training requirements as established by the Counter Terrorism Operations Support (CTOS) organization.
    • Assist in set-up, cleaning and breakdown of training areas including classroom and drill ground.
    • Prepare all electronic course delivery material such as computers, Wi-Fi, projectors etc.
    • Follow all requirements set forth in Instructor handbook such as travel and clothing policy.
    • Represent CTOS in a professional manner at all times.
    • Train in all weather and environmental conditions within Company safety guidelines.
    • Maintain a high degree of safety and compliance with all guidelines and procedures.
    • Coordinate activities with all members of the delivery team.
    • Support and perform CTOS/CRNT program administrative functions as assigned.
