  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent training and experience and at least 5 years’ related professional experience is required.
    • Previous project management experience and responsibilities including managing small projects (<$5M TPC), defining, planning, executing and monitoring projects, while managing stakeholder needs and expectations is required.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with people inside and outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government and other external sources in a tactful, professional, and effective manner while screening and maintaining confidentiality is required.
    • Ability to deal with pressure of handling multiple tasks, complaints, frequent interruptions, and time constraints is required.
    • Successful candidate must be working toward formal project management training and certification.
    • A strong knowledge of the STL customer base is preferred.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

     

    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    Responsibilities

    • Under direct supervision will manage a range of projects in support of the STL Manager and Applied Technology Engineering Teams.
    • May participate in all aspects of the project over the entire life cycle (initiation, planning, executing, monitoring & controlling, and closing)
    • May assist in the preparation to define, plan, execute monitor and control project schedules, risks, and cost, as well as work across the functional areas of the organization to develop and interact with Integrated Project Teams, while managing stakeholder needs and expectations.
    • Pro-actively develops and implements strategies to mitigate risk
    • Meets customer requirements while providing realistic expectations.
    • Establishes specific customer satisfaction standards.
    • Actively monitors customer satisfaction.
    • Pro-actively develops and implements strategies to mitigate risk.
    • Applies project management best practices and processes, such as planning, work authorization, monitoring project performance, and controlling the project baseline.
