  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a business related field and 8 years’ of professional level experience, including 4 years’ as a designated Project Manager, or equivalent training and experience.
    • Must be highly organized, proficient in multitasking, self-motivated and able to complete tasks independently.
    • Candidate must be a team player with good customer service skills and the ability to work flexible hours if required.
    • Must be able to identify and comply with project requirements in development of products and deliverables.
    • Ability to evaluate alternative solutions using systematic and multi-step approaches.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license


    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”


    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    • Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and coordinating resources to successfully complete project goals and objectives (schedule, cost, scope, and quality) for projects involving technical and scientific enhancements for mission shortfalls for radiological response assets.
    • Will be responsible for administering, tracking, and reporting on numerous projects within the organization and the project operations and execution will be in coordination with other team members and stakeholders.
    • Responsibilities include confirming production schedules are met and resources are used effectively. 
    • Must be capable of interpreting complex client requirements and interacting closely with the internal Program/Project Managers and Principal Investigators for execution and management of work scope. 
    • Must manage and maintain development, production, and delivery standards; ensuring schedules and project assignments are met and completed as directed.  
    • Must have superior writing and oral communication skills to provide detailed information to higher management and external customers.
    • Must be able to communicate thoughtfully and professionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Must be able to establish good working relationships with internal staff and external personnel to ensure information is distributed as needed and project is effectively and efficiently managed. 
    • Responsible for coordinating and interfacing with a wide variety of internal and external personnel prior to and during national and regional-level activities such as exercises and real-world events.
    • Personnel would include MSTS project managers and emergency responders, collaborating team members from supporting laboratories, and high-level leadership from headquarters and other organizations.
    • Will be required to be proficient in the use of various emergency response systems and databases.
    • Will be required to qualify as a member of National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) emergency response team. 
    • Must be willing and able to travel worldwide, sometimes under severe conditions,
    • Must be willing to work non-standard hours, as required by training, exercise, and response operations.
    • Occasional domestic travel may be required (<20%).
    • Must accept individual responsibility and accountability for environment, safety, health, and quality processes within personal control, personal safety, and the safety of co-workers.
    • Accept additional emerging responsibilities, as directed by supervisor.
