  • Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field and 5 years’ progressive related experience, or equivalent training and experience.

    • Experience required includes overall Information Technology in systems engineering; vSphere, ESX, Hyper-V, VMware View, and related VDI products; Data Center management; and technical implementation experience with storage and Microsoft technologies.
    • Understanding of storage technologies and concepts (e.g. RAID types, performance) are a plus.
    • Experience with virtualization and server infrastructure technologies such as VMware vSphere, Backups, Active Directory and Data Center Operations.
    • Experience managing load balancers, networking devices, web applications, databases, and server management tools.
    • Good understanding with database management systems such as Oracle and MS SQL.
    • Strong understanding of networking technologies including TCP/IP, DHCP, VLAN, various WAN technologies.
    • Advanced Technical Certifications including knowledge of virtualization, storage, and computer platforms.
    • Hands on experience with VMware vSphere and other virtualization products, and with server applications in a Microsoft and Linux networked environment.
    • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships with customer technical personnel.
    • Certifications:  VMware certifications are a plus; Microsoft MCP, MCSE, MCITP, or MCTS certification(s) is a plus; CompTIA Network+ or higher certification is a plus; CompTIA A+ or higher certification is a plus; and CompTIA Security or higher certification is a plus.

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level).  Review and tests for the absence of any illegal drugs as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.  Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required.  Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”   

     

    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age.  Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

     

    Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

    Responsibilities

    • Operate and manage effective and scalable solutions, clustering and integration strategies with Windows Operating Systems, SharePoint, Exchange, Unified Messaging, and other advanced components of Microsoft technology.
    • Support the implementation, security and support of enterprise directory and messaging environments.
    • Participate in project teams, prepare scope documents and project plans, and design and implement best practices for provisioning services, identity management and Microsoft technologies.
    • Responsible for implementing Microsoft and virtualization solutions at an enterprise level.
    • Possess in-depth understanding of industry leading virtualization and server technologies from both a design and operations perspective.
    • Manage existing SAN infrastructure, including Pure Storage and EMC storage arrays, as well as other Storage technologies.
    • Manage test bed and equipment deployment projects from start to finish including racking all varieties of hardware, cabling, OS installation, firmware upgrades and LUN presentation.
    • Engineer solutions in response to support requests and for improving internal processes and procedures.
    • Install upgrade and maintain infrastructure VM’s and services (DHCP, DNS, proxies, ISA/TMG, SCOM, SCCM etc.).
    • Assist in planning, implementation, and operation of virtualization infrastructure projects and participates in the specification of business requirements.
    • Operate and implement virtualization solutions based on best practices to support both data center and distributed server infrastructures and desktop environments.
    • Develop complete virtualization solutions taking into account infrastructure, data protection, high availability, resource management, automation, disaster recovery, and application requirements.
    • Secures server systems by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access.
    • Identify and report Key Performance Indicators, including capacity planning.
    • Design and deploy automation and workflow solutions in collaboration with Design and Engineering, Project Managers and Operations staff.
    • The candidate will provide support, mentoring, training and support of other IT Infrastructure Analysts.
    • Create run book and other supporting configuration documentation.
    • Participate in problem management and root cause analysis and maintain 24x7 availability and monitoring of enterprise system servers.
    • Perform related work as assigned by supervisor under limited supervision.
