  • Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Civil or Fire Protection Engineering in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

    • General knowledge of national codes and standards applicable to field of engineering.
    • Ability to learn design processes and procedures related to nuclear facilities.

     

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

     

    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.” 

     

    Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

    Responsibilities

    Individual will act as an engineer in the Engineering Division. Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

     

    • Assist with preparation and checking of design drawings, specifications, calculations, system design descriptions, and design analyses.
    • Support senior engineers in determination of code applicability as it pertains to systems that are being modified or designed.
    • Support senior engineers in walk downs, identification of issue, interferences, interface points, performance requirements, operational requirements, and other areas of concern.
    • Coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines, senior engineers, Authority Having Jurisdiction, fire marshal, facility managers, project managers, and project engineers
    • Builds teaming relationship with technical and other company organizations.
    • Supports field programs and designs using pre-determined principles and practices.
    • Contributes to designs, strategies, reports and technical proposals.
    • Assists in performing design and technical analysis activities using prescribed codes and standards, computer software, and generally accepted best management practices.
    • Coordinates work within their discipline on less complex projects.
    • May serve as a member of work teams.
