  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the position and a minimum of 14 years' of related and progressively responsible experience, or equivalent training experience.
    • Nevada Professional Engineer’s License, or ability to obtain through alternate state reciprocity, is required.
    • Experience in design, construction, or system engineering in a Department of Energy or Commercial Nuclear facility is highly desirable but not required
    • Must possess planning and organizing skills and initiative
    • Must possess effective oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal communications skills to deal with contacts in an effective, positive, and professional manner.
    • An ability to obtain a DOE “Q” security clearance is required.  Applicant will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
    • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

    • Reporting to the Division Manager for Construction, lead strategic and detail planning for construction of multiple subsurface construction projects to include drift mining, shaft sinking, ventilation and commodity installation, fire and dust barriers, and refuge stations.
    • Expert knowledge of mining designs and construction techniques including geotechnical and rock mechanics design considerations is required for this position.  This includes knowledge of design and installation of ground support systems, such as rock bolts, split sets, wire mesh and shotcrete.
    • Provide oversight and direction to Construction Superintendents for all underground construction activities for two or more major construction projects.
    • Maintain staff of Construction Superintendents by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
    • Maintain a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing growth opportunities.
    • Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
    • Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
