  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and 9 years related experience.
    • Master’s or Phd is preferred. 
    • Proven experience as a senior level firmware developer is required.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
    • Must be curious and excited to come to work each day and learn something new and contribute to our national security mission.
    • Expert level experience with ultra-low-power design, AVR, TI and STM microcontrollers, custom bootloader development, bare-metal custom driver development, ARM, Zynq SoC, FPGA/CPLD, GSM, GPS, WiFi, BLE, Freewave radios, LPD/LPI comms, USB 3.0, GCC/Linux, printed circuit board design, Altium, SVN and/or GIT, and Android app development is preferred.

     
    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

     

    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    Responsibilities

    • Lead teams in a diverse and challenging set of hardware/firmware projects, with special emphasis on customized communications systems. 
    • Define requirements, assess creative solutions, prototype, lead hardware and firmware design reviews, and then customize the hardware and firmware for the application and ensure that the project is well documented. 
    • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with customers and project managers, and be willing to mentor and help develop junior personnel, and apply problem solving skills to team tasks. 
    • Occasionally, you will be required to travel.
