  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), and 5 years related experience.

    • Masters’ degree and at least 3 years’ experience preferred
    • Ability to provide lead technical role in design and implementation.
    • Knowledge in theoretical understanding and practical experience with modern Radio Frequency communications standards and practices.
    • Ability to effectively use Radio Frequency test equipment such as a microwave network analyzer, a spectrum analyzer, a oscilloscope, or a modulation analyzer, for both trouble shooting and design verification.

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”


    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    • MSTS is seeking a talented senior level Radio Frequency Engineer to join our staff of scientists, engineers, and technicians in Santa Barbara, CA. 
    • Will design, simulate, develop, and test Radio Frequency based technologies, develop software to perform detection, demodulation, and processing of Radio Frequency communications systems, research new signal processing techniques, and ensure the team meets and exceeds modern Radio Frequency communications standards.
    • Experience of Software Defined Radio frameworks in implemented in FPGAs is a plus.
    • Participate and develop documentation for both internal design reviews and customers review.
    • Responible to work on a diverse set of projects. 
    • Parpared to be hands on, willing to learn and be comfortable working in an environment with engineers of diverse backgrounds and expertise.
    • Track work using web based tools to ensure manager/team members can see progress.
    • Lead, support and mentor junior personnel.
    • Must be able to work on both distributed and in-house teams, effectively interact with stakeholders, and lead and mentor junior personnel.
    • Some travel will be required.
