  • Qualifications

    • Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology or in a recognized Electrical Engineering Technology specialty, and 2 years’ of progressive related experience. 
    • Must be self-motivated and able to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
    • Strong time-management skills, be well-organized, maintain safe work habits and have a broad range of technical interests including participating in additional learning and educational opportunities.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills are desired, as is a willingness to work closely with professionals having knowledge and skills in numerous technology areas.
    • Some travel will be required.
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

    Department of Energy Q clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, "Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites," will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.  Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, "Counterintelligence Evaluation Program."

     

    Eligibility Requirements - To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, "Personnel Security."

    Responsibilities

    • Serves as a member of a small team supporting engineers, scientists, and senior technicians in building, testing, and fielding complex diagnostic systems that utilize the following skills:
    • Analog and digital electronics, microprocessors and controllers, printed circuit board assembly and troubleshooting, instrumentation chassis assembly and construction, soldering techniques and workmanship standards,
    • Experienced in the use of basic and powered hand tools,
    • Knowledge of a variety of laboratory instrumentation such as digitizing storage oscilloscopes,
    • Digital delay generators, high-bandwidth analog and digital fiber links, and other electronic test and measurement equipment, a working knowledge of computer programming is desirable.
    • Mentored by and work under the direct supervision from engineers, scientists, and senior technicians as part of a team working on a variety of diagnostic system development and fielding activities.
    • Assigned to work with senior members of the Los Alamos Operations engineering section for work assignments.
    • Work collaboratively with a diverse group of scientists, engineers, and technicians developing innovative solutions to customer-driven applied R&D diagnostic systems.
