  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a calculus-based Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) field, and 5 years' related experience.
    • Master’s degree preferred.
    • Previous experience in the field of software engineering and quality assurance is required.
    • Ability to problem solve and work independently and assist others employees.

    Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

     

    Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

    Responsibilities

    • MSTS is seeking talented senior level software engineers to join our staff of scientists, engineers, and technicians in Santa Barbara, CA.
    • Successful candidate will be a senior level Software Quality Assurance Engineer in the Software Engineering group.
    • We are looking for the right person to work with the Software Engineering Manager to rebuild a Software Quality Assurance team focused on service to our government sponsors. 
    • Responsibilities will include development of automated testing scripts, planning and documenting software testing plans, requirements review and tracking of quality assurance metrics, testing software applications, documenting and tracking bugs, hardware integration, configuration management, management of government cloud services and collaboration portals, and leading a quality assurance team serving the needs of multiple stakeholders.
    • Successful candidate will work closely with software developers, mentor and lead junior personnel, and report to the Software Engineering Manager.
    • Some travel to sponsor sites for testing or experiments.
