MSTS is a limited liability company consisting of Honeywell International Inc. (Honeywell), Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (Jacobs), and Stoller Newport News Nuclear, Inc. (SN3).

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a calculus-based Science Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field, and 2 years’ related experience. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently but know when to ask for help.
  • Special consideration will be given to individuals with Java experience, experience with Haskell, Android, and IOT, and experience with Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of Defense (DOD) situational awareness applications.
  • Experience with GIS is also highly desirable. 

Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

 

Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

Responsibilities

  • MSTS is seeking talented software engineers to join our staff of scientists, engineers, and technicians in Santa Barbara, CA.
  • Seeking individuals who are passionate about working on challenging national security issues, and supporting those who make a difference in that domain.
  • Successful candidate will contribute to full lifecycle software development, developing requirements, assisting project managers, developing, reviewing and debugging code, assisting Quality Assurance with testing and systems integration, collaborating with other engineering personnel, providing documentation, and monitoring and managing bugs.
  • Successful candidate will be expected to work independently, recognize when they require assistance, be willing to mentor and help develop junior personnel, and apply problem solving skills to team tasks.
  • Candidates must be able to work on both distributed and in-house teams.
  • Some travel will be required.
