MSTS is a limited liability company consisting of Honeywell International Inc. (Honeywell), Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (Jacobs), and Stoller Newport News Nuclear, Inc. (SN3).



  • Bachelor’s degree in a calculus-based Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) fields, preferably related to software engineering or computer science.
  • Some work experience in the field of software engineering or quality assurance is preferred. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Must have ability to problem solve and work independently but know when to ask for help. 

Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”


Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

  • MSTS is seeking talented entry level software engineers to join our staff of scientists, engineers, and technicians in Santa Barbara, CA.
  • We are seeking individuals who want to work on challenging national security issues.
  • The successful candidate will be a junior level Software Quality Assurance Engineer in the Software Engineering group. Responsibilities will include development of automated testing scripts, planning and documenting software testing plans, requirements review and tracking of quality assurance metrics, testing software applications, documenting and tracking bugs, hardware integration, configuration management, building installers, assisting in management of government cloud services, and making a contribution as part of a quality assurance team serving the needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • The successful candidate will take direction from senior staff and work closely with software developers.
  • There will be some travel to sponsor sites for testing or experiments.
