Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  • Strong understanding of software development best practices.
  • Skills and abilities in mathematics, software engineering, and data analysis.
  • Project level experience in IDL, MatLab, MySQL, and related languages and tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality assurance including documentation and revision control.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately track project elements and write reports. Experience in technical and group leadership is desirable. Knowledge of and experience with, Linus, LabVIEW, PHP, JavaScript, and digital signal processing techniques for image analysis.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver's license.

Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”

Responsibilities

  • Support the Calibration and Applied Analysis (CA&A) team at Livermore Operations.
  • The Calibration & Applied Analysis team is looking for a highly motivated engineer with superb problem solving skills to join our small team tasked with working on data reduction of images and other experiment data used in High Energy Density Physics (HEDP) and Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) experiments for the national laboratories.
  • Primary objective will be to support the needs of our customer with the analysis of instrument calibration data.
  • This includes but is not limited to data collection in a variety of calibration laboratories, creating software to meet customer requirements that can produce reliable and repeatable results, producing scientific visualizations to present performance characteristics of calibrated HEDP instruments.
  • Creating analysis reports, running the analysis routines as data sets become available, maintaining and improving the analysis process, verifying the quality of analysis results, transferring and uploading analysis results to the customer, and uploading analysis results to the customer, attending customer meetings to review and discuss data analysis and report results.
